Uphill battle, Hillary Clinton lost the presidential election to Donald Trump.
On Wednesday, Clinton publicly conceded the election in a powerful speech, imploring us to adjust to this demoralizing fact, while defending the dignity we still have as supporters of her campaign and this country as a whole.
In her speech, she stressed the importance of a peaceful transfer of power and keeping an open mind-despite the deep painfulness of this setback.
For the women who feel particularly wounded by Trump’s resonance with half of the American population, Clinton’s words are a reminder that this loss should not deter them from speaking louder, standing taller, and defending hard-won human rights.
Clinton’s speech became intensely emotional when she addressed young girls specifically, saying,.
“And to all of the little girls who are watching this, never doubt that you are valuable and powerful and deserving of every chance and opportunity in the world to pursue and achieve your own dreams.”
We have to remember that Hillary Clinton has already made history.
